The engine shown in the graph at right was destined for a Factory Appearing Stock Tire (F.A.S.T.) Fairlane. These cars have to run the factory exhaust manifolds, so there was some question of how much power would be lost over a good set of headers with the exhaust manifolds. Although the 427 Fairlane exhaust manifolds are pretty good by factory manifold standards, on a 482" 600 horsepower engine like this, they result in a drop of around 50 horsepower.
