Four Valve engines, including the Mustang GTs sound terrible with Spintech mufflers.  Stock Ford sounds much better, regardless if there is a horsepower improvement with the aftermarket mufflers.  Give me a good pair of Dyno Max, or Borlas any day.  Joe-JDC

I have a buddy with Spintechs on a 347 inch Boss 302, it sounds wicked, but not real pleasing inside.  I am a Borla man mysel

The spintechs I had sounded like air leaking from a compressor hose. I got rid of them

On my 390/'53 F-100, I used a set of '64 Galaxie 427 exhaust manifolds. I did an immediate change up to 3" exhaust, did an 'X' pipe and had Bassani make me a pair of 36''-body stainless mufflers. The mufflers were hung just ahead of the rear pan, with down-turns to get past the sheet metal. I regularly received compliments on the sound.

Dan, it there any reason not to go with sidepipes and eliminate the under-chassis exhaust altogether?

I can tell you my reasons for a full undercar exhaust...
1.  Quieter.  If you've never driven a side pipe big block cobra, well, you need earplugs.  I have.  It's absurdly loud and that's a fact.
2.  I have kids.  It's safer.
3. It's classy.  That's just my opinion.

Yes. This is an original 1967 427 street Cobra and it came equipped with under car exhaust, nor does the owner desire side pipes.
