WTB - Deep FE pan, with or without pickup OK
« on: January 30, 2021, 09:06:40 AM »
Guys, looking for a period correct kind of oil pan for a 63.5 Gal.  Some sort of increased capacity, not the wild 9 quart, just more than a stock pan, and looking for something not plated, can be painted and hold up.

I have a 496 here for refresh with a nice Moroso that looks sort of like the old Ford welded deep stock style, but I don't think they sell the painted version anymore.

Anyone have something laying around they aren't using?  Ford or not, pickup or not

I am not locked into any one style, but this is the style I am looking for, preferably not plated as I have fought paint adherence in the past with that coating.

I used a milodon  on one of my 427s and the gold coating is holding up very well. I think any of the after market pans could be painted with the right work. I would scuff it then put acid etch primer on and then paint it.  The 2 OEM deep pans I have were done this way and are holding up just fine.

I have done that, even had them blasted, never felt it held on like a bare pan would.  If it comes to that, I'll do it, engine needs to be done

I forgot to mention that I use POR black engine paint on the pans and the whole engine, and have`nt had any problem with it staying on. I`m really pleased with it , esp around the exhaust ports.

May be a shot in the dark but I have a Canton 4x4 Offroad pan on here for sale....cheap vs. what I paid for it....and open to trades. Just putting that out there.
