I’ve decided it should be 507hp and 512 ftlbs. Perfect truck mule.

OK so does that mean it was on the dyno already?

What exhaust? headers & any dimensions you have helpful.

Not to dyno yet nope. It will get a tri-y in the pickup. They meet the head well, but they’re 1 3/4 tube. I was looking at some similar builds on here, they’re both 540-550 hp. It would be neat if I had 500, but in the whole scheme of things it doesn’t matter. If it made 483, would it not still be fun?

What I’d really like to hear, is what Gonk says about the factory 2x4 vs say an rpm with 800 or so cfm.

On a 427, an unported Performer RPM or unported Sidewinder will put the whoopin on a ported 2x4 LR intake, by about 20-25 hp.

I was kinda afraid of that. I’m nostalgic, but deliberately leaving 25 hp on the bench is silly when you’re talking bolt ons. I’m not ringing everything out of this but, for the application an rpm is somewhat logical.

OK here's what the Gonkulator thinks:

With 2x450 LoRiser:
Torq 538 at 3800
Powr 470 at 5400

The cam is pretty far advanced at 7 Advance (113-106). Retarded to 3 Advance (110 ICL if you're into that) Gonks to
Torq 542 at 3900 +4
Powr 482 at 5500 +12

With 800 Holley & RPM:
7 Advance
Torq 555 at 3900
Powr 481 at 5300
3 Advance
Torq 559 at 4000
Powr 493 at 5400

The difference in the intakes is maybe a tenth and a MPH, hard to even notice off the clock, so depends on what parts you already have, and how much you like to babysit 4 bowls of Holley. All those effing o-rings.

Another advantage of the single quad is you can plop a gas mileage carb on there if you have a long trip, then swap it over to the big double-pumper in the parking lot so the rig looks more mean at the car show (or runs better at the strip).

The cam advance thing is free (gaskets), easy to try. Maybe if you had a really tight converter that much advance might work, but I think it's too much if you want to get up and run.

I wouldn't rock it back much past 108 myself, as you'll like the part throttle response a little better in the truck. As a guy with a 490 HP stroker in a pickup, it'll blow the tires off with a stiff suspension, and I only run 3.50s and 33/12.50ss

However, I do think swapping to a medium riser, or getting inside the low riser could help you.  Not so much port work, but under the carb pad/roof turn and lower plane short turn combined with a little spacer work could net some power without a big loss in torque.

X2.  That's a cam I had ground and it's purposed to go in on a 106.  Cylinder pressure and throttle response are cool things to have...

I did a 427 road race engine with fully ported C3 heads and a heavily worked 2x4 LR intake.  I got 510 hp out of it and was pleased to get that much.   Those intakes are turds.

If that thing makes 550ftlbs I’d poop a Twinkie! It ate u joints with a warmed over 390. I’m thinking RPM, try a couple carburetors. Not sure if a single plane manifold helps, not likely to try since it is a 4x4 with a tall tire, about 5,400 lbs. There is an old Dove collecting dust out in the shop, if I felt like burning a set of gaskets and an afternoon. Thanks fellas, always fun getting different takes on things.
