Borla/Inglese 8 Stack TB or Webers, hood clearance question
« on: September 22, 2020, 12:55:13 PM »
Does anyone have, or have they any experience with an FE and either 8 stack throttle body, converted EFI Webers or normal Weber carburetion under a Mustang hood?

I have a build in the process and trying to get an idea if it fits in a Mustang, preferably with individual filters on the stack, not just big screens

Thanks in advance

What year Mustang?  Most will clear the stock hood, unless there's a really tall velocity stack or tall filter.

68 with a Shelby style hood.  Building engine to send off to the guy building the body, trying to anticipate fit as much as I can to help and allow the owner to run both filters and bug screens for street and show respecfively

The intake definitely fits under the hood. I've seen several over the years with the traditional 'straight up' and 'slanted' Weber intakes. I'm not sure how much room there is for filters. I don't recall seeing them with filters on, or if they did, they were very short ones.

There are two versions of the weber intake for FEs. One with the carbs angled 10° inward. Which intake are you using?

Thanks Doug, we have it worked out now, going with Inglese version of the throttle body setup to allow 8 tall filters

Dumpling, when I asked the question, we hadn't decided.  However, given the the engine build, the throttle body setup instead of the Weber style allows 58mm bodies vs 48mm, shorter, and more options for the induction as well as the intake configuration for coolant ports

Should be a fun build, in the planning stages right now, but 6 speed behind it, good suspension, going to be sort of a pro-touring car.
