Hey Guy's

This was found in a trunk of a 1957 Fairlane its a Judson Electronic Magneto. It look like new kinda strange looking with cooling fins. Anyone have info on this? Would be cool looking on a Ford Rat Rod. It must be some aftermarket over the shelf item

I've seen one on a small block Chev street rod but i've seen several on old British cars and Volkswagens.

When i Google it a VW site has the most info. 1963, i thought they were earlier than that...

Judson made Blowers for small engines as VW back in the days
And here is one on a Volvo B18-B20 https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=ZSb3xnn0&id=6DD0989633564FC6F3EED72F66A32C9EB65B71E2&thid=OIP.ZSb3xnn02uUHFjsHguQrVwHaFj&mediaurl=http%3a%2f%2ffarm3.staticflickr.com%2f3825%2f13801411573_5898b4f72f_b.jpg&exph=768&expw=1024&q=judson+kompressor&simid=608027039756782295&ck=FF55FE101AB5D37BE790FB3683F9EB14&selectedIndex=12&qpvt=judson+kompressor&FORM=IRPRST&ajaxhist=0

That would be really cool to have something like that. The possibilities of small engines that you could blow up and destroy is enticing  ;D
The B18-B20 is in much a copy of a FE actualy  even the same oilfilter. One of the most bulletproof 4 cyl of that era
but managed to blow up a few in my youth :D many installed the blower from J29 fighters that maintained the cabin
pressure that was sold as surplus in the 60-70s.

That would be: Marshall Cabin Blowers/Superchargers, manufactured by Sir George Godfrey & Partners, of England, beginning in 1938 +/- mostly as "cabin-blowers".  Were very popular with the pre-war and post-war M.G. crowd.  Later known as the Marshall-Nordec units with automotive intentions, but they split-up in the early '60's (?).                ;)

Looked out for the care and welfare of an MGA back in the early sixties that had a Judson blower. Used a draw-through Falcon carburetor. The one with the glass float-bowl.

Too long a story to tell here, but we pulled it apart and replaced the Micarta vanes that made the boost. The inner drum was off center and the vanes slid out of 'spoke'-type internal slots to scoop the air. I imagine it made 4-5 pounds of boost when full on.
