Shelby aluminum block sleeve questions
« on: April 08, 2020, 12:10:10 PM »
I was curious what the Shelby cylinder sleeves OD are, for the "standard bore" and the "big bore" blocks as delivered new. Sleeve thickness as delivered for both and/or what the as delivered ID is for the big bore option. I imagine it is somewhere around 4.365 - 4.370? I haven't seen anywhere what the max overbore is for either size either. I know Jay has bored and even changed sleeves so maybe you might have the dimensions??? Thanks.

The standard bore blocks that I've had have been 4.242" or so ID, and the big bore blocks have been 4.368" or so.  I recall that the big bore sleeve's OD are 4.625", making for almost no material in the block between the sleeves.  I'm not sure what the smaller bore OD is, I'm not sure I've ever had one of those sleeves out.  When I did my offset bore block I used sleeves that were 4.680" OD, for a finished bore size of 4.500", on a 4.700" bore spacing.
