It probably seems like driving through Manhattan (NYC one, not Kansas) compared to many of the routes through Nevada and Wyoming. I'm sure people in the east have no idea it is possible to be more than 100 miles from the nearest person.
Tatum to Roswell is a desolate stretch. Vaughn to Roswell is 101 miles gas pump to gas pump. I have been through parts of Utah and Nevada but the greatest distance between pumps that comes to mind was South Dakota. Staying on the Interstate it seems it was 218 miles between pumps. If there were other towns or stations hidden in the corn fields I didn't see them.
