'66 Fairlane 390
« on: January 29, 2020, 04:10:36 PM »
I'm looking to sell this '66 Fairlane. We have owned it for roughly 5 years. It was intended to be a project of ours but there are plenty of other things to get done and not enough lifetime left to do all of them.

The car is factory red with red interior, 390, auto trans (shift on the column), 500 trim level. Both front fenders have endured a hit or two, the hood was replaced at some point, but otherwise the body is in fairly good shape. We have some pieces of documentation in the glove box that came with the car, the car was sold in Colorado and has always been in Colorado, so it's a fairly dry car. I have a picture below of one area of rust I found on it. I intend to get it backed up onto the lift to take a look under it, just need a couple willing friends to stop by and help me get it up there.

All in all, it's a very complete car, this is the reason we ended up with it in the first place. All the miscellaneous parts that you end up hunting for are all on the car, it's 100% left alone. Odometer shows just over 80,000 miles. I'd be willing to bet that the engine has never been gone through (but couldn't know for sure without pulling it apart). I think with a day or two worth of effort you could have it running and moving around under it's own power. It ran previous to us storing it in the barn. Clean title I should add.

The negative news is: It sat outside for years and years. The paint is very sun damaged, the interior is very sun damaged. In reality, upon restoration they are all parts that would likely be replaced/restored/repainted anyhow so maybe it isn't so bad afterall.

Price is $6,000 firm. Car is at my place in Fort Lupton, Colorado. I'd prefer to sell to someone on a site like this first before I resort to selling on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. I'm going to continue to do some TLC on it, like cleaning up the engine compartment. I'll update pictures on this posting as I get better ones, just wanted to get it out there.

Mike it looks like a very worthwhile project for someone, and the price is reasonable.  I've owned my '66 500 for 22 years and still enjoy it.  Getting one so original as this one is the way to go IMO.

I got the car up on the lift tonight and took some pictures underneath it. Very dry. Only rust spots on the underside look to be the torque boxes behind both front tires. Just a couple small little holes showing through.
