i have owned my comet for over 36 years.back in the 80s and 90s when i ran points dist and stock coil,it never crossed my mind that my ignition might burn out miles from home.i used to drive it to the beach back then,1000 mile round trip and never worry about failure.now i would be afraid to drive it that far without a backup

I run a duraspark and a MSD box. I keep a point distributor in the trunk
so i can drop it in if the electronics fail
