1966 428 pi
« on: June 28, 2019, 07:28:47 PM »
I acquired a 1966 police car that had the p code 428 pi solid lift motor with c6me block with the A scratch and  standard webbing with the 428 down in the water jacket it was bored 30 by the previous owner but cleaned up nice with a light hone.It has the 2287p pistons, seems that's all they done it because everything else is stock as it should be.Cam has an upside down A followed by BX,Crank is 1ub polished std-std.heads are c6ae-u with manifolds still attached, factory aluminum intake, adjustable rockers and autolite carburetor.I do not want to build it but i don't want to give it away either i had cam bearings installed and that's it other than cleaning and light hone.I'm looking for a rough idea of a value.Any help is appreciated. And M/T valve covers.I'll try to get some pics posted.

I would like to have it but can't afford to buy it. I have seen people asking $2500.00 for a bare block in good condition. I don't know if they sold them for that but that seems to be the standard asking price.
With the crank and all the rest of the parts yours should bring more then a bare block.

.030 over blocks do not have value that a STD bore one does. Also the A scratch block is worth less then the C scratch block. Because the cars they are for are worth less. Need more info as to how much of the P code stuff is there . There is value there but not 2500 for the block. You will need more info as to if it will stay .030 or if it needs to go .040. anything after that will need a Sonic check for any real value.

My machinist said the bores looked real good at 30 and wouldn't need to be bored anymore.
