I inherited these blue rocker sets with a vehicle I purchased and they've been sitting (unloaded) on an engine for about 5 years. I was fitting the pushrods for clearance on the intake and decided I'd lash the valves. The picture is what happened when I hand tightened the lock nut on one of the adjusting screws. Oddly enough, some of these lock nuts have "ARP" stamps and some do not so I have no idea what the unbranded hardware is (most likely original). No reflection on the rocker set of course but I was a little shocked. I'll be replacing all these adjusters with ARP hardware just to be safe.
I'm not sure what brand this eBay rocker set is but here is the info from the listing;
"Our Procomp Electronics aluminum rocker arms are made from 6061-T6 or Series 7000 2024 aircraft quality aluminum alloy extrusions. Each rocker body is relieved for extra valve spring clearance and anodized for added strength. CNC machined billet steel pedestals, ground steel alloy rocker shafts, alloy steel fasteners, and needle roller bearings from the finest manufacturers in the world comprise the foundation of these rocker arm systems. These complete kits include all the components and hardware required for a professional installation.
Benefits/Characteristics
- Rated 750 lbs. open spring pressure
- Internal oiling system for long-lasting performance
- SAE 42100 full complement precision needle and cage roller bearings."
I'll have to double check my spring pressure as these heads were also inherited and POPS blueprinted the long block (which I plan to perform again just to have peace of mind). But I think they are worth a shot and I don't mind being the guinea pig on the this one. If they break, I'm out $300 and some time. While I mostly agree with the comments that you get what you pay for, it's not always the case. Sometimes you pay for quality and get anything but and sometimes you get a great deal. I'll report back after it's run through some tests.
