I don't see where Joe called them "heros". But he's correct in his statement; back then, driving those cars was challenging to say the least, and quite a few guys lost their lives doing it. I do wish they had chosen a different actor to play Miles though. Still, it's cool to see a movie about this historical era of racing.

As long as the stick to historical facts it will be an awesome movie. I don't worry about a persons political affiliations. All forms of human rule have there parties or own selfish agendas driving them. Only one man ever knew what was best for all mankind.

It's Hollywood - there will be deviations from the written record for sure.  No entertainment type production goes straight from book to screen unless it's a straight documentary.
