Ceramic disc on street
« on: March 16, 2019, 08:02:02 AM »
Shopping a disc for next incarnation of 427 stroker. I have a McCleod three finger 12ā€ pressure plate that has been rebuilt by McCleod. Their Tech recommends ceramic/ceramic for the expected power level. Also said it would be fine on street after bedding in. What say Ye?
Thanks,
JB

You really don't have a choice.  It would either have to be ceramic or sintered iron on a single disc setup.

What has been your experience or feedback from users regarding chattering on an all ceramic disc? If there is some initial Iā€™m cool with that. Was hoping to hear someone confirm that the chattering does go away.
Thanks,

It depends greatly on the rear end gear, the weight of the car, and how you drive.  A sintered iron disc would probably be less likely to chatter.  I know you have a McLeod setup, but in comparison, I've never had a customer tell me that a RAM Powergrip HD clutch kit chatters, and they are sintered iron on both sides.

The ones that I've had complaints from are from Kevlar material.
