After my fiasco with a fastener causing a bit of interference fit in cylinder #7, I'm seeking a quality set of pistons and rings. That piston didn't come out much better than the cylinder wall. Lucky for me, the piston and wall took the hit, because the rod checked out perfect today.
So, I'm in the market for a complete set of pistons and rings to go with the new block that is at my machinist. That block still measures 4.050" with very little wear or ridge, so I'd like to only go .020" over. I should hear from him with sonic wall thickness info in the next day or so.
Motor is a mild truck deal and needs to run on pump gas. Cam is 215/220 @.050", with a 113 centerline, hydraulic roller. Heads are Edelbrock with stock ports.
I see the typical Speed Pro and the like, but not many options at +.020".
Any other suggestions? Advantages to a step up in ring package for a daily driver truck?
