SOHC mustang convertible longest project ever
« on: September 19, 2018, 02:05:11 AM »
Long story tried notching the towers. Did not give me the warm fuzzy. Went with the roadster shop front clip. Set the motor back extra 3” and modified the firewall, but really worth it I think and it gives it more room for the radiator install. Finally got the motor assembled and ran on the test stand 5.5 hrs and sounded amazing with no issues. Now getting the motor back in the car for exhaust final install and the borla injection install. Some really big challenges to overcome for sure and more to come I have no doubts.

Thanks Jay
If you did not help me out with that Munro rocker it would of been another delay.
Any updates on your rockers?

I have the first set of mine running on one engine right now, and am currently building the next five sets.  Hopefully they will be finished in 4-6 more weeks - Jay

Looks Great but I think my project is taking longer, it feels like it any way,  so is that the front clip you used that would been a lot easier the what I did, I am just about done with building the studs to hold the front timing cover on my engine, I hope they work then we can put my engine together slow but sure. Thought there would be more room with front clip. Still restricted because we want to run a 325 tire up front. Unfortunately project has been ongoing for almost 30 years. Have had the car since I was 16 and always seemed something came up. I really like the motor mount design the shop came up with. Way better than what roadster shop sent.

Nice idea with that "washer" with a U shaped cutout that guide the
rubberbushing so the holes for the bolt line up

The shop got the motor back in the car. Not a lot of room. Exhaust fabrication to start along with inner fenders. Also bracket fabrication for the air conditioning. Unfortunately going to have to modify the hood for the stacks. Real bummer.
Cannot wait to hear the motor run again.

How cool, if you make the fenders six inches longer it gives you a lot more room, the long nose Mustangs were stretched twelve inches, anyway it Looks Great,  I am wondering where the A/C pump is going are there any pictures of the brackets, I thought about Electric A/C pump and put it were the battery goes. Just got home from work. Going to the shop tomorrow. Alternator and AC compressor are to mounted on the passenger side. We are looking fabricatiing serpentine set up. Power steering is being handled by electric under dash set up so not necessary for mounting a pump of the motor. If pictures available will post.
