I know it's not a truck, but I think you'd be able to pull a mobile home behind you with those torque numbers! I don't think you'll need much throttle to move that Galaxie, that's for sure.

Thanks Doug and Heo for your comments, and also thanks to Jay and all forum members for giving me the knowledge and confidence to pursue this project.

Blair warned me about keeping tires on it, but I guess that's a problem I'd like to have!

Some more details about the build: 735 cfm Cobra Jet carb from Blair's stash, Ed Performer RPM intake, BBM heads, OE non-adjustable valve train with heavy-duty shafts, Power by Ford valve covers from a '71 pickup, Comp Hyd. Roller cam, Scat crank, OE front cover, Pioneer balancer, and Milodon stock replacement oil pan and pickup.  I acquired the '68 date-coded SO block a few years ago from a friend and it cleaned up at 4.240".

Nice build!  Any videos of the dyno run?  What is the comp ratio?

Throw caution to the wind.  Time to make friends with the local tire guy :-)

Hey Bruce, congrats on engine. Now that you have enough torque to pull a fuel trailer, which could come in handy, what are you gonna do for a transmission? May need a fresh set of U-joints too.

Jimeast, no video of the runs. I was just enjoying the moment!  Comp. ratio is 9.5:1, selected by Blair based on the parameters I gave him.

John, the current trans is the stock Cruise-o, and stock rear gear which is about 3:00-3:20:1.  New u-joints are on the list!  I'm also looking at AOD and AOD-E trans options.  I think I'm going to get it on the road first, then do the trans work/swap as a separate project since that will involve a new crossmember, driveshaft, and rear gear.
