Oil accumulators
« on: October 12, 2016, 02:09:19 PM »
Are the CVR accumulators on par with the MOROSO accumulators? I see that both 3 qt accumulators are about the same price. I have a Chance to get a new in the box CVR at a really good price. Just haven't seen much info on the CVR's .

Those things are pretty simple, just a piston and O-rings inside a large bore tube.  Not much to go wrong; I can't imagine it wouldn't work well.  I've never had that brand though, just Moroso and Canton.

Jay,
What size feed line are you using with a 3 qt accumulator? I'm thinking #6 should be fine, it's a pretty short run if i mount it where I'd like.
I'm sure the accumulator may have a recommendation in the papper work. Unfortunately that's the one thing missing lol. I got the CVR on the way though. It's new, never used and saved myself about  $80 so I fig I was worth it not having the papper work.

I always use #10 or #12 for the feed line.  Maybe overkill, but if the oil runs away from the pickup I don't want the feed line to be any kind of restriction.  FYI the dry sump system I use recommends a #12 line from the pump to the engine - Jay

I have a Canton 3 QT, they say # 10 . Mines mounted up front on the left apron with remote filters, so its a short run to the block. Its nice to be able to prime the Eng after sitting for weeks/months with the flip off a switch, in addition to preventing  starvation on Accel/decel .  Bob

Did you get an electric valve? If you didn't, you'll soon want one. (And I, too used -10 line on my Canton. piece.)
