Viral: 2016 FORD GT Application Video
« on: May 08, 2016, 04:23:42 PM »
Ford wants its new GT owners to exercise their cars, get them on track and beat the snot out of their tires, conquer social media like a 600 hp twin-turbo plague, and make similarly priced European exotics look a bit pedestrian by comparison (they’ll cost over $400,000). Ford wants these to be the ‘superstars’ of the supercar world.

As such, in its application Ford is giving preference to current Ford GT owners (check!), those who have owned multiple GTs, those who have a few other Fords in their garage, people who race their GTs and are active in charity events (check and check!), and those with large social media followings (check!), among many other aspects. Brooks, we’d say you’re looking pretty good for the vetting process! Good luck!

From what I saw Ford's building 500 FORD GTs, I presume that's of the 2016's and no mention what-so-ever of more. Sounds like a very small production run. I own a Gen1 Lightning, for 93-95 they made just under 10,000 by what I recall.  I see other Gen 1 Lightning's now about once a month.
I wonder how many 2005-2006 FORD GT's were purchased with the idea of keeping the miles as close to as delivered or simply not driven at all.  Seen a fair share of still-in-the wrappers FORD GTs roll acro$$ the big auction TV'd stages.

Personally as far as keeping "limited edition Fords" out of the hands of investors, I like the Ford COBRA JET Drag Car's where FoMoCo produces new versions every year like clockwork and currently about $100,000 each...New improved versions every year has to give the "collectors" a fit. Supposedly race-cars do better with provenance, so any brand new COBRA JET Drag Car that's been stored away is in a whole new ballpark as far a expecting collector values to pay-off..
