he says they are replacing the timing chain on a lot of the 3.5 ecoboosts in the pickups. They are stretching.
This is my concern with the truck engines.
I get it in a smaller platforms. Nice engine but when you need a V8 you need a V8. I hope they prove me wrong.
We had one come into work that stretched the chains, jumped about 3 or 4 teeth on the crank and bent some valves. Cranked over real easy, zero compression!

Besides the timing chains, I've had a couple ecoboost F150s come through the shop needing turbos also. Turbo wastegate acuators get stuck and make weird boost noises along with possible surging under load. They run decent when everything is right though.
