valve adjustment hyd.lifters,adjustable rockers

i have forgotten so much over the years.seems like i remember there was a shortcut to adjusting the valves on a hydraulic cam with adjustable rockers.seems like you could do a bunch at one time turn the crank and do the rest,or should i do them one at a time,or what is the best way?

You can do several at a time, I just choose not to. You can almost never go wrong doing one at a time. This is the method I use-
Exhaust starts to open- set the intake
Intake is almost closed- set the exhaust
Works for mild to wild cams. Jmo

2x on what Jared wrote.  Takes longer but a safer way does not exist IMO and a little extra time is cheap insurance compared to the damage a mistake would bring.

thanks i better do them 1 at a time,its a stout street motor ,it should be done right. do you set them with the lifter crushed? is it .050-.150 im not sure any more,i took several years break from fooling with them and i forgot a lot of what i knew.

seems like i made a .100 shem one time for setting hyd. with adj. rockers. please let me know if this is wrong,i wouldnt want to mess up a new 433.

I've seen many recommendations based upon intended use.  I have H/S rockers on my street 445 and set them up at + 3/4 turn after zero lash.  Haven't had to touch them again.

i have the factory adjustables for now,im going to change it to roller this summer,but i run it hard on the street.it has 4.11 gears,c6 with 3500 stall.i just want to set them to where they will be safe for now

I believe my setup to be safe, others may disagree and if so they'll usually pipe up, that's part of what makes this forum a great tool.  I have and do run mine pretty hard, wouldn't be half the fun if I didn't

im using hydraulic lifters,does anyone know what to set the lash on with the lifters in the crushed position? i could be wrong,i am a lot but do they have a big tolerance like .050-.150 because of the hyd. lifters.

I think that probably varies from lifter brand to lifter brand.  Historically the way to do it was to take up all the lash with the lifter fully extended, and then give the adjuster another 1/2 to 3/4 turn.

i forgot to ask my uncle who put my engine together if he set the valves,he has since passed away before i got my engine in.i better check and set them just to be sure.i like that way better jay ,i wont have to worry about crushing the lifers flat. comp cams lifters

i set number 1 at tdc and adjust a bunch of valves and then i do another full turn and put 6  on tdc  and then i adjust the rest.  its easy for me to do that way.  its just a personal preference.

i just finished adjusting my valves 1/2 turn past zero lash.i haven't check them since i got my engine back from the machine shop.about 1/3 was ok,about 1/3 was a full turn or more past zero lash,and about 1/3 was off bad,say 2 full turns or more..i dont know if this makes any since or not because im a dummy,but when i fired it up it seemed looser and seemed to rev quicker.does that make since or is it just me thinking that?
