Woo Hoo! F1 season starts this weekend!
« on: March 12, 2012, 12:59:44 PM »
F1 season starts this weekend with the Australian GP. I know alot of you are not big fans so please bear with me.  In honor of this occasion I am posting one of my favorite F1 vids. This is an older warm up vid of a 900 hp 3.0 litre v10. Now they are running 2.6l v8s, same hp, normally aspirated on gasoline. I just love those little screamers and the technology involved.  :)

Very cool! Gotta love those white hot exhaust pipes and that sound.

But, the old BRM V-16's had a great sound too:

Big Fan here also.
I have followed for along time. I watched Gilles drive at the Canadian with the front wing hanging off.
It's a very entertaining show. The cars change direction so fast. They can do a 1/4 in something like low 9's
and turn and brake.
Gilles Villeneuve started out drag racing his 67 Stang.

60th 12 Hours of Sebring Too
« Reply #3 on: March 12, 2012, 08:48:42 PM »
I have watched every F1 race that has been televised in the US, never got to see one in person though.  Although they were death traps I liked the older cars for their looks and sounds and the driver played a bigger role in my opinion.

I know F1 is all about technology but I wish they had much less technology and aerodynamics and allot more mechanical grip.  And glorious 12+ cylinder engines.

I am an avid sports car racing fan as well and the 60th running of the 12 hours of Sebring is Saturday.  Living in S. Fla most of my life I was able to attend the 24hrs at Daytona and the 12 hours at Sebring every year from the 70's thru the 90's.  My last time at the 12 Hour  was 2002 for the 50th running.

Nothing like watching and hearing 6, 8 and 12 cylinder cars all downshifting into a corner at night shooting 3ft of fire out the exhaust.

The three days party's were damn good too!

Looks like a good weekend for watching motorsports on the tube. ww
