Parts Identification Help
« on: October 23, 2015, 11:16:08 AM »
I need proper identification. I bought this as a GT set up. Bolted up to my C6AE-G intake and matched a standard valve cover grommet. It did not match up on the mansfieldmustang web site. Is this standard GT plumbing for a Fairlane?
Thanks

What is the correct application for this dip stick and tube? No identifying marks on stick. Stick is 19 13/16" to rest.

Loose dipsticks. The top is 20 1/2" tip to rest and bottom is 19 1/2"

Top to bottom sticks measure 19 3/4"; 19 7/8" and 19 1/4".  I believe the bent white tube is the same as the bottom. Both are C7AE-6750-A sticks.

These kick down rods are both 27 3/8" center to center. Any help would be appreciated.

A mixed pair. Little beat up but they match oil level. The stick is silver and 19 7/16" to rest. The tube started life black and is 10 1/4" long.

This is the last thing (I hope) of my 25 year collection that I can't figure out its origin or purpose. It has lived the last 21 years on the left head of my F100. Due to its perfect match to the a/c mount bosses, it worked as a support for my ignition and oil gauge line to finder mounted coil. Anyone recognise this piece?

Chris, I'm thinking it could be a support for the air inlet/ filter on a Thermactor emissions setup.  Not sure if your F100 has had that stuff at some point in its life?  Growing up in California it was a fact of life on FEs from the mid-sixties...

The truck didn't. I pulled a smog 390 from a 66 or 67 wagon but I remember it with a/c. May have been on a loose head unless these mounted on the back.

The PCV system looks right to me though it is hard to tell about the length of the front tube because I think they differ a little between intakes.  The fitting at the rear is plugged because it is off a non power brake car.  There is a difference between 390 and 428 in the angle of the tilt in the middle fitting on the hard tube but I can't tell which this is just by looking.

The yellow dipstick tube is probably 428 CJ C6 fill tube.

The sites I have found only show back to 67 and show a 90° pcv valve. The pipe angle is different where it screws in on a CJ intake. As far as the transmission dipstick I have had a few different slip yoke C6 but don't remember any cast iron tail housings. From what I have founn the Mustang CJ tube mounts to the head, this one uses a bell housing mount bracket. If a 428 CJ was a smog car and the filter bracket was on passenger head would that dipstick mount to bell?

If I understand your question, I think the answer is no.  A correct 428 CJ C6 tube has a tab that bolts to the rear of the PS cylinder head.

Yes, that is what I was asking and thanks. I am pretty sure two of the oil dipstick / tubes came from pickups. Do you recognize the wide dipstick? How about the "F" tube that bolts to the head, did those come on cars equipped with factory headers?

I am out of my league helping you with any of the other stuff.  Early FEs had the dipstick attached to the front of the engine instead of using an exhaust manifold bolt but I don't know which ones had what.  And those dipsticks should all have an engineering number on them somewhere which would help track them down.

A couple of you have responded and I appreciate your time. Looks like the majority of us don't have knowledge or resources to identify these old parts. Some may assume this is one of those bait post. Most of these small parts I pulled and ran myself when most of these things were undisturbed fresh meat. Didn't pay enough attention to details back then. The two sticks with C7AE are the only ones I posted that had engineering numbers stamped on them. I have another group of mostly 70's pick-up sticks I remembered or had identifying numbers on them.
