What is typical OEM transmission angle for a '62-'64 Galaxie?
« on: September 06, 2015, 09:08:26 PM »
When setting the rear end pinion angle for a 4-bar install on my 1963 Galaxie, I first checked the transmission output shaft and saw 7 degrees downward toward the rear.  It seems a bit excessive to me. It has a 390 with a C6 and a hack-job crossmember from a previous owner.  I need to fix up the crossmember before completing the 4-bar and would like to know if you guys think it should be raised a bit.  If so, what's a good target angle? - Garrett

If I recall correctly, my 64 Galaxie had a 4-1/2 degree down angle at the trans, and I put the pinion at a 2 degree up angle to work with the Cal-Tracs.

Thanks, Jay. I was thinking the transmission should be around 4 deg down or so based on what I thought would level the carb pad.  I'm sold. - Garrett
