mill rocker stands or sink valves for rocker geometry ??

which method would you use Jay , or anybody ?? ...... had a valve job done and don't like my rocker geometry , a heli-coil pulled out on the rocker shaft when going together so it's coming apart for some inserts , thought I would get the geometry right

I sure wouldn't sink the valves, Eric.  That'll hurt flow.  Have you thought about running lash caps on the valves to raise the tips up a little?

that's a good idea , my intakes are 11/32 and exhaust 3/8 , lash caps better than milling down the Dove stands ??

Either way will work, but the lash caps are quicker and easier (if they correct the geometry), and you wouldn't have to worry about swapping the stands onto another engine some day and having problems.  Lash caps are usually 0.080" thick, but you can get them ground to different thicknesses.  I'd put an 0.080" spacer on top of an intake and exhaust valve and see how the geometry looks at that point...

what started it is I installed the "tins" to see what it would do to rocker geometry and with the tins the roller tip was barely on the valve stem towards the cam side of engine , so I checked them with out the tins and though it is better it's still not close to being centered with the stem

edit to add ..... the geometry must have been like this for 17 or 18 years and my machine shop kept the stem height the same as before , but since the heads off I want to get it perfect , I twist the engine 7000 to 7200 rpm
