Carb heat
« on: June 08, 2015, 05:02:08 PM »
67 390 GT engine with a rebuild and very streetable replacement cam, factory carb and exhaust manifolds. The manifold on the passenger side has two steel tubes, the one that comes out on the top of the manifold goes to the choke housing and attaches with a compression fitting. The second comes out of the bottom of the manifold and ends just above the passenger side valve cover and from there continues on to the choke clean air pickup tube on the side of the carb, my concern is if that is right. It seems if connected that way there is vacuum pulling from clean air pickup tube and from behind the  choke housing where the housing mounts to the carb, where there is a small restrictor in the choke housing limiting the flow. It seems hooked up this way its not getting the heat it needs for the choke and the fast idle cam to work properly, thanks Paul.
