Fe intakes and shaker scoops
« on: June 17, 2014, 06:52:13 PM »
What intakes will work with the 1969 Mustang shaker scoop. Or what spacer may be needed to make them work. We are trying to decide what intake to use for a 390 build. The 390 will be maybe 350 hp with a 4 speed.  Thanks Bob

Bob, good to see you here.  For sure the Streetmaster, Blue Thunder 4V, Edelbrock Performer, Edelbrock F427, Ford medium riser, and Ford PI intake will work with the shaker.  The Edelbrock Performer RPM will probably work too, but it sets the carb back about 5/8" past the stock location, so you might have to adjust the scoop's position on the air cleaner to make it clear the hood.  If you've got a copy of my book, there are height and carb setback dimensions listed for all the intake manifolds.  You can use the factory 428CJ manifold as a baseline and see how the other manifolds stack up compared to that.

Hi Jay, I gave my copy of your book to my son with when he bought the Cougar, lol. I knew there were one or 2 that where an ill fit. I had  a friend looking for a quick answer. Unluckily for him I just sold a CJ intake I brought home from FL. I'll try to wrestle my book back from my son in the next day or so. Bob
