How bout a shift kit or transpak? I have run a diff servo in my c-4`s by PA auto is there somthing available for the c-6s? As allways Thanks for any help

I'm not a C-6 expert but I worked with Broader when I put mine together and he was very helpful and fairly prics.Broader's
Stage 5 shift kit shifts very firm. Shift kit is $75.00 and a modified valve body with a shift kit is $150. I would recommend spending the extra $75 bucks for the whole valve body.

If it was me?
shift kit as mentioned, also #9 roller and reverse hub with longer splines, make sure I had at least 5 frictions jammed in the drums.

For what it's worth... I have the broader shift kit (transgo SK6) in my truck.  It's a daily driver pickup truck and the stage two shifts perfectly for my usage, wouldn't have wanted to go much harder on shifts.  For a more aggressive car I could see 3-5

There's a lot of info on C6's in the 429-460.com  and 460ford.com forums.  Most of the info is in the sticky's or older listings.

I put an E40D wide ratio kit in my last C6 and really liked the -10% first gear and -5% second.

Re: C-6 upgrades A Temp Guage
« Reply #6 on: February 15, 2014, 11:09:23 PM »
A trans Temp Gauge that goes in the outlet cooler line,( its in the front ) autometer makes a manifold or just use a 1/2 pipe Tee and some fittings,  I think its  a MUST do  C-6 and C-4's run Hot , add a Higher stall Conv and it gets worse , do NOT put the Gauge in the pan it will give you Average not Peak temps , keep the fluid under 200 ( if its reg Type F) and under 250 if its Synthetic ( I like Amsoil Super shift ) AND of course to keep it cool enough you may need a bigger cooler , or another one , don't just assume if you have a Big cooler its all you need , the other posts above offer the other suggestion , I build C-6's and C-4's ( yep I do more than Recurve Distributors  8)

Cool Thanks. That website for valve bodies and the r-servo is exactly what I was asking about

Then you can get into the levers.
Which lever is in your trans?

I have dealt with Jay @ broader performance for my C6 behind a 6.9 turbo Diesel. I rollerized my C6 with a gear reduction kit , with the 6 gear planetary. And a stage 1 shift kit from Trans Go. All the parts fit real nice and didnt have to cut down the case to do it. I too run Amsoil in my stuff. They make some of the best tranny fluid out there. Not only am I a client, I'm a dealer for them LOL.....

Next question.
Which servo do you have now?
Using a R servo and an F lever can crack the case. It puts too much clamping force on the band.
The CJ C6 came with a R servo and B lever.
If you have a P servo and use a F lever that is a good mix.
Or if you have an H servo and a E or possibly a D lever that would be a good mix.
The levers are different lengths and the servos are different diameters. Too much and you can crack the case.
Bottom line is you don't need an R servo, you need the right lever for the servo you have. jmho

If you are wanting to use an r servo be aware that it wont fit an early case .Early being 66-68 and possibly some 69 cases .And even so the sonnax r servo sometimes has problems .The best c6 info is located on the two 460 forums as others have stated .On one I did a buildup of a c6 for my 460 based dragcar .On of my problems was the sonnax servo .If you really want an r servo stay away from the sonnax .TCI has one and I believe another company Superior trans ? have their own now used to everyone used a repackaged sonnax .The sonnax can be made to work .You have the larger diameter piston turned down so it will slide easily in the bore .The o rings that are on the piston stem dont last either .On the 460 forum they have a sticky with lots of c6 info .On the 429-460 forum lots of good info too.Another shout out for broader performance .The direct clutch drum he sells (high gear) comes setup for five clutchs and has a series of hole drilled in it .I have installed two of these .Nice snappy 2-3 shift .By the way my two c6s with stock servos shift as good as the one with a modified sonnax .Good luck to you with your build .Doug
