Another time....
« on: June 19, 2024, 01:16:24 PM »
There was a time when Heo had hair on his head. And fastback Mustangs was cheap :'( ;D i would guess Late april early May 77
just taken it out for the summer, no tax tag on the licence plate. Took about a week to get it. You was not allowed to drive before you
got it. But sunny and the chicks flocking who could stop you ;D ;D

Cougar taillights, Cragar SS, Formula 1 Superstocks, Paintsceme like an overipe banana, electric antenna in the rearfender,
RogersCustom sticker in the rearwindow. Probably where he bought the Cragars. Maybe he added some calcustom valvecovers
and crome aircleaner with El Toro wingnut, Headers and a daggerhandle for the dipstick on the order
I bet he was considered cool in his town
I se now the flag is up, so probably last of April when we light big bonfires and celebrate the winter is over. So i suspect the trunk is loaded
with beers to last to the early morning May 1st;D ;D

Looks like a rattle can paint job on the effects ;D
I used to hate Cragar SS wheels because everyone ran them. I liked the slotted mags better. Now I don't mind the SS for the nostalgia look. And one thing is for sure, Sweden has no shortage of beautiful girls. :)

Yes, Probably spraybombed, the masking lines dont look that professional either. Bottom of rearfenders fixed cheaply and wrong
a cheap paintjob and it found a happy new (young) owner. Then you could get a realy nice 65-66 fastback for 13-16 000 Swedish crowns
This i guess was probably 8-10 000 before the rims and other custom trix ;)
A Dollar was about 5 Crowns a new Mercedes Diesel was 35 0000 a Volvo about 20 000 a big blockCharger was 30 000 and with a Hemi 35 000

How cool is that  ;D ;D

Great picture Heo!  Now we need some more pictures of skinny Jay with long hair.  There are rumors that he has a great shot of a really nice looking girl sitting on the roll bar of his '68 GT-500 convertible...

Yes i think so, those guys in the SL Mercedes would have been considered .....Dorks here
Probably had easily ended up with black eyes and nose out of shape. Just shouting that
to some lokal girls could have resulted in them getting hunted down and beat up
It was harder times then :o ;D

I remember the first punkrocker (and only) in town. He was some kind of problemchild from Stockholm
who was sent here to fosterparents. I think i was in 8th grade, he was to.
Anyway, he tried to be tuff big city punkrocker first day at school.
So he ended up getting beat up
He left school and got down town where the carguys saw him and they to beat him up.
Pulled the safetypinout of his ear without opening it
The people  was not that..."including" here then ;D ;D
Nex day at school he had a more ...hmmmmm... normal look .If anyone looked normal in the 70s ???

Sunwarm vinylseats, American vinylseats have a smell of it own, Little tree, a wiff of gas,
VHT headerspaint slowly burning off, Beer, Cigaretsmoke, slightly damp carpet
ATF,Armorall Thurtlewax The rumble of the 289 idling through glasspacks.
I bet  The girl have strawberry lippgloss and peash scented shampoo ;D

Heyyy i posted pics on a blond girl on the roof of my Fairlane here. That did NOT come out well

Heo---

You bring it back. My then-new '65 1/2 Mustang GT was a burgundy color with the 'K' engine and 4-speed and a  'pony' interior. I gave it a pretty complete GT 350 work-over including a rear-seat delete and 'glas hood, etc. Put on a Paxton blower. My then-wife was a mostly-Swede blonde. That could almost be her standing by the car in your picture. Good times!

My first Cougar got a bomb can stripe job done to it back in about 1977. It was done in oat to hide the parking lot chips.

Junita area of Kirkland WA 1978

But moved on to include the hood and trunk.

Bellevue WA, Overlake area 1978.

Whidbey Island  WA 1978

It did get some young ladys attention, but it also got the attention of the boys in Blue...
It was not all that fast, but could keep up wit most Small Block Camaros, Firebirds and Mopars. Not as cool as a K code early fast back. But the dark Brown Leather interior ws impresive.

A guy in town had a 68 cougar XR7 with a 460, 10 inch Cromereverse wheels,  Kelly supercharger N50 15 tires, jacked up in the rear,
sidepipes, black mirra paint, black interior black vinyl top, it was fast but a real tiresmoker. Unthinkabel someone do that to a 10 year
old car today

Oh man, does that send me back!
My Mustang morphed 3 times! Fade paint job with sidepipes, Shelby mags and Posi-Traction Torque Twister tires. High School 1977.
Mini Tubb, midnight blue paint, 454 Hi Riser with squeeeze for LA Streetracing. 1985
Alston Pro Gas Chassis, 454 with Edelbrock heads and 8-71 "lung" for fairgrounds cruising. 1992
Had tons of fun with all versions...although the street racing gig turned into work after a few years.

Those were the days.  Long as we're sharing, this was my first car, given to me by my Dad for high school graduation.  It was straight Poppy Red when I got it, but I repainted it the summer of 1976 and put the stripes on it.  Pictures from the winter of 1977:

I sold that car to get the money I needed to buy my 68 Shelby.  I was much more popular in the Shelby convertible  ;D

By the way, she is holding a can of King Cobra beer!  Never knew there was such a thing until I found it in a St. Louis liquor store...

I keep telling my kid, "Take pictures with you and your friends in the picture....in 30 years you will be happy you did."
My three favorite things in the thread, so far, come from Heo and Jay.

Heo: Here we have an image of the fun car......and in the background is a Volvo PV544.
Those things were almost everywhere, from my perspective....Not quite VW Beetle everywhere, but they certainly were around....and almost always parked somewhere too. Rarely did I ever actually see one driving down the road.

Jay: In Jay's description is says these are photos from the summer.....with snow everywhere.
I guess you are not too far off Jay, afterall it is Minnesota.

Heo and Jay: The common link between the, literally half a world apart, photos is they focus on two highly important subjects.....fun cars and fun girls.
