I also have a Tru Track though I'm only going 11s it works just fine on and off the street.

               Harry

Harry, you running an automatic or a stick? My understanding is the the Tru Track doesn`t like the shock loads of hard, high RPM clutch drops, with an automatic, the drivetrain is all under load on launch, unless you are using a transbrake.

Im still running a traction lock diff only cause I havent had a problem. I was thinking the next strongest one after that was the
true trac. So is there anyone with 575-650 horse running at the track and not having any problems with the true trac?. If its not much better
than the traction loc strength wise than maybe I will go locker.

The True Trac is available in the new Mustangs as an option, and if it holds up in them, then it should be a decent street unit.  I had one installed in my Contour SVT, and it changed the handling quite nicely, but that was no where near your horsepower.  I beat on it with the 5 speed and it never gave me any issues.  Joe-JDC

The True Trac is available in the new Mustangs as an option,.................

I believe it is the Torsen differentials that are available? Maybe?  :-\

The Truetrac units were born into the 4 X 4 off-road industry 40+ yrs. ago particularly suitable for the front-drive axles which permitted more reasonable off-road steering capabilities that verses locked or locking units and is where they are still most popular today.   I believe that most of these worm-gear resistance type differentials are all variations of the original patent by Gleason back in the late '50's, and now marketed as the Torsen unit; who's first big break into the market place was with the Military HMMWV in the early '80,s.   :)

These worm-gear units are smoother (friendlier) in operation, probably better in on-road slick conditions such as snow and ice or simply just driving than many others due to such; but just as not being as brutal in function, so are they more limited in their ultimate capabilities.   ;)

We have a TruTrac helical.  It's silent and works well for street use.  We are not tracking the car though.  When I talked with Moser about the rear end build, I told them the goal was 800-1200hp, they said it should be no issue on the street but not recommended in that range on the track.

This all about bragging rights. How much can I spend.
Put a spool in it. They work fine on the street.
Cheap and way more useful for doing burnouts.
If you are going to turn a corner at high speed with 1200 HP and cheap BFG's.
Put a locker in it. You will need it. You will be sliding.

I put a 31 spline Tru Trac 9 inch Ford in a 57 Chevy 4 door station wagon Junk Yard Dog gasser with 433 BB and 535 horse at the rear wheel that graced the cover of the Jegs catalog a few years ago and he abuses it ever time he drives it with big Pie Crust's street slicks for probably going on 5 years now with no trouble.

To each their own, but I would not run a spool on the street.  There are a handful of people out there who can and do, but I wouldn't do it myself nor would I recommend it.

Just note, that even if the True-Trac (or most any other worm-geared unit) is working just as intended by the manufacturer it doesn't guarantee you that, even though both wheels are turning, that both wheels are turning the same speed.   ;)

I ran a spool on street a couple years , started with slicks , then drag radials and street tires, any kind of wetness you better be quick on the 4 turns lock to lock steering wheel ... yes you can and it's not terrible on beautiful days but a little rain and look out

I did run a spool on the street in my Mustang with 19.5x33 M/T street tires. It had an Ebay NASCAR Detroit locker before I added the spool.
The spool was much more predictable than the locker in street driving and it drove fine.
I did end up installing the Detroit Locker back in my Mustang.
Thing is, with the spool the tires sounded like a dog being whipped when I'd pull out of a parking space.
The clicking and banging of the Detroit was SLIGHTLY less embarrassing. ;D

     "Yukon",  off-shore manufacture.   :(

      Scott.

Pretty sure Eaton is "off shore". The main office building is in Dublin, Ireland. For tax avoidance.
Very kool Guinness Beer tour if your in town. One of the oldest taverns in the world is just down the street. :)

Oldest tavern - Ireland - Dublin no less. Makes perfect sense!
