.730 camshaft lift with trickflow heads
« on: May 12, 2023, 03:40:06 PM »
What is the solution to run a .730 lift solid roller camshaft with trickflow heads to prevent coil bind?. Trickflow states a max lift of .680.

You can use +.050 keepers or retainers.

But, you have to check the rocker arm to retainer clearance.

There are also springs that have a better coil bind clearance.

Change springs.  They're not going to be correct springs anyway.  TFS FE heads are only available with flat tappet springs, hydraulic roller springs, or hydraulic roller springs with titanium retainers.  None of them will be correct for a solid roller.

Also, check with Doug Garifo (Precision Oil Pumps) about getting some extended length rocker stand studs.  The TFS heads have thicker stand pads and you can take advantage of longer thread depth there.  Doug has a few contacts with ARP and I asked him to get some made.   I just tested a set on some TFS heads with 620 lbs over the nose, using Harland Sharp rockers.
