'65 427 Dual Quad
« on: May 02, 2023, 07:47:32 PM »
I am having a hard time finding an air cleaner element for this intake. The one that it has (likely original) is 2.25" high. I bought one from Amazon, advertised at 2.25" and is actually 1.75".

What is the correct height? Should this be an FA48 or FA46 element?

This intake when I got it used nuts to mount the carbs with a 1/2" hex. Should they be 7/16"?

Anyone know where I can get a new choke plate for the C3AF BKA 3MC carb?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Start your search for an air filter here.
https://store.cobranda.com/aircleaners.html

The original style is not tall, and it does measure 1-3/4" in total height.

Look into Baldwin filters....specifically a PA632.
This Baldwin PA632 is the filter currently in service on the dual quad set up in my garage sitting on a 428PI in a 67 GT500.
The Baldwin uses black rubber with white filter material and a fine "X" style wire mesh....so it does not mimic the original orange/cream original style....but it fits and filters the air.

I think the 3x2 version is all thats available now which would be like the fa48. The fa 47 and 46 have been out for along time and as of now no one is making any. I think Mike Brunson is making some new ones , but not sure how long out he is. There is a fa47 on ebay now for $300. The dual quad version is the taller version and the fa 48 is not correct.

We had a batch of these filters made. We met a guy at the PRI show that was able to make custom air filters and his price was reasonable enough that we decided to move forward with making some. I'm expecting them to start arriving soon (maybe even this week). We're building out a website to try and make these transactions easier, it's going to take a minute to set up but I'll put out a thread on here and on the FE Facebook page when we've got that live.

In addition to the R-code correct air filters, we also had them make a taller 3" version. A lesser quantity of those were made.

Years ago K&N listed oval elements for industrial applications that were very close to the FE measurements.  Not quite as long and wide but close enough.  Available in different heights up to 6" tall.
