Several years ago I did an engine based on a C4 block. I got the engine from the original purchaser of the car, a '64 Galaxie with a 330-390 PI engine. As part of the 'improvement', I put roller cam bearings in. (My idea, but the machining was done at Roush's Prototype shop.) We opened the cam tunnel with a boring mill so as to be able to use the roller bearings offered through Ford Performance for 385-series engines. Using the roller pieces made it possible to use a standard-size steel solid roller lifter stick. (You need the steel shaft to go with the rollers.)

We re-grooved the openings in the bulkheads, behind the cam bearings, so the oil would go to the mains, but none of it would bleed off at the cam. The idea was to assure all the oil getting to the mains, without the losses at the cam journals.

I assumed that the roller bearings would be better, due to less drag, but even if it made no improvement, it was not likely to create any extra drag.
