Stewart Stage I Water Pump For The Ford FE
« on: July 31, 2013, 11:35:25 AM »
Does anyone have experience/feedback using the Stewart Stage I Cast Iron Water Pump on an FE. I'm considering one when I installed my new Griffin Radiator I have on ordered.  I currently have an Edelbrock.  I'm chasing the low speed/ stationary cooling issues I've had with the car from day one.. Thanks. ww

Stewart stuff is good quality, but generally a low speed overheat is airflow related not pump, you sure you have enough fan & the proper crank / fan pulley ratio?

x2 on what Ross said. Don't under estimate the effects of pulley ratio. It can make quite a difference.

W.W. When I built my 428 in the 69 cyclone I went with the same stewart water pump you are talking about .It has been trouble free and cools my mercury fine .About the only thing negative I can say is the alternator bracket takes a bit longer to start the bolts. If I was to drill out my alternator bracket 1/16 it would be perfect .It works as is and I didnt want to drill out the alt. bracket so it isnt that bad a fit .I put a stewart water pump on my 460 powered comet also and it works and fits perfectly . 8) Good luck with your build and looking forward to more postings on it .Doug

How close is your fan to the radiator ? , what t- stat are you running ? . The Edelbrock water pump should work fine , fan should be about 1 inch from your radiator . B N
