Morel Lifter Flush
« on: March 12, 2022, 01:57:31 PM »
Since I had trash in my oil from my crank thrust bearing wear issue I am wondering if there is a way to flush Morel lifters?
I don't think you can take them apart as the pushrod seat will not clear the rivet.

I can rotate the seat pretty easily but takes a lot of force to compress, do not have a great way to test ease of and free travel so to speak to make sure they are not sticky for some reason.

Thanks.

If the lifter cannot be taken apart and cleaned - I would replace them.

Just my opinion. I wouldn't take the chance.

I'd give Morel a call and see if they offer a refub program.

Morels have a really tight piston/plunger to body clearance.  It doesn't take much to crud them up.  If they weren't ticking or causing problems before you shut it down, I don't think I'd be concerned about it.

No new noise that I know of before shutting down, I've always had 1 that ticked some for a minute or two after a hard run, that is making the call a bit more difficult.  New has risks as well so executive decision time I guess.

question I have would be - bearing material would have to get by your filter and into oil passages and be pumped into lifter or material would have to find a way into lifter to cause a problem -- if roller rinse             roller should be OK -or how would material get into lifter?   trash would rinse into crankcase but not oil passages?
