Those are the worst castings I have ever seen, even for Dove. Not even close to being usable. I'm not even sure they could be "fixed" to work. Sorry, but I don't want to see any forum member here get burned.

Obviously, the expert has X-ray vision and does pressure tests through the computer to make comments on parts he has not seen in person.

Given history, it's fair to be concerned with those heads based on the pictures. Has a pressure test been done or any other work to ensure the heads are sound for use? They might well be despite the visuals, but I think it's also reasonable that folks would want a little more info about them given their visual appearance and issues with porous casting in the past.

Ok, not my intention to insinuate that Fairconman is looking to rip anyone off.  This went a little off track.  I have no reason not to trust this guy and don't want to represent anything other than that.

I certainly was not implying anyone to be a con man, and I probably shouldn't have said that these heads might not even be usable. I was trying to point out some very visible, and very heavy, pitting on the deck, which would have to be heavily milled, or welded and re-milled to work. After milling the surfaces, any prior pressure test is meaningless as new pits/flaws can become an issue. Certainly almost every issue can be worked out, but at a price.

Hey Randy, hope you are doing well! While I am not familiar with this particular set of heads and haven't looked any further than this ad today, my previous experience in dealing with Randy has been exemplary. Parts were always as advertised, priced fairly and our dealings were very enjoyable. Cheap shot about his user name as that is the same user name he has used for years and sold a multitude of parts under. He is close enough to us, that Lance and I as well as other local individuals have dealt with him considerably. I am currently sitting on 3 or 4 sets of heads and at least 2 intakes that were from Randy. Some are NOS and perfect. Dove's heads are very well known and documented for these problems.

I have had good indirect dealings with Randy as well.  Customer of mine bought a 302 Tunnel Port race engine off of him and I had it freighted up here.  Everything was as described.

I have had 2 sets of Dove Aluminum heads and the ones on my 427 had some porosity but never a problem. The current set on my 428 are horrible and why they don't leak something amazes me however they have been used and abused for a long time without issues. A bit lower price would make these more attractive but since I'm not a buyer my opinions don't matter.

I'm pretty sure all Dove heads are "SK" so that designation means nothing but one tip I have is to put your head gasket of choice on the head and make sure the oil transfer slot lines up with the hole in the gasket. One set I had the slot was too short and it starved oil to the rockers. Found that out the hard way.
