Good news from my State's legislature concerning antique vehicles

Kansas has eased their restrictions concerning antique vehicles. "Currently, the Kansas Highway Patrol defines an antique vehicle as being “more than 35 years old and as close to the original as possible, without any significant alterations to the major component parts.” The new law only requires the vehicle to be more than 35 years old, regardless of the age of the component parts installed on the vehicle. It removes the unnecessary restrictions currently required for vehicles eligible for registration as antique. "
The reality was hardly anyone obeyed the previous law and it was seldom enforced. It is good to be legal though!
With an antique plate, after the initial cost of $40 I only have to pay $17 per year per vehicle there after. This is really advantageous because Kansas ranks among the highest in vehicle property taxes in the country.

Nice. Where I am (Illinois) is crazy as ever. Was pulled over last night actually. Officer had busted a Lincoln with Antique plates. Here they are only to be used for going to and from car shows or auto repair shops. Owner must have said the wrong thing. I have "Extended Antique" which allows for normal cruising April through October. Officer had to look up and learn the difference. He was pissed at first but calmed down once he got familiar with the EA plate usage. Still got a couple tickets though.

Sorry to hear that on the tickets. With all that is going on they choose to pull over a classic car...
