Question for Jay on Blue Thunder intakes
« on: March 18, 2013, 09:41:51 AM »
Jay;

In you testing, on a mild 428 Cobra Jet with original Cobra Jet heads, would a Blue Thunder 4v intake be better with the Cobra Jet ports or medium riser ports?  I have your book, but I don't think you discussed a side by side comparison of the two.

If I recall correctly there was almost no difference between the two.  I have run that test because I was curious about that myself, and I have both versions of the Blue Thunder intake.  I will try to check my dyno data later and confirm.

Here's the dyno data of the two intakes on my 446" 390 stroker.  The manifolds are nearly identical:

Thanks Jay.  I picked one up some time ago with Cobra Jet ports for a good price, and was getting ready to put it on.  Then noticed that the factory Cobra Jet intakes were medium riser, and got me wondering if I might have bought the wrong one.
