Are these any good? Jay,Ross anyone?
« on: March 11, 2013, 02:02:18 PM »
Hey guys,
Found these on ebay , with my tight budget I thought they may work for me. I don't have any experience with roller rockers, these don't use bushing or bearing and I don't see an oil groove cut in them, so I don't know if there is excessive wear on them. I thought I read a thread here that Jay or Ross run this type of rocker.     Thanks again!

Nothing wrong with those rockers as long as you aren't going overboard on lift or spring pressure.  On a typical .550" - .600" cam with open spring pressure of up to 400 pounds, those should work fine.

Jay,
Do you think the wear on them is ok and not excessive? Pics aren't great. 571 lift with 320lb open spring pressure.
                                  Thanks

Nothing wrong with those rockers but if you have a tight budget
there is a complete set of NOS Ford rockers on the Fe forum for $ 300
which look good.
They are not mine.
take a look.

I am leery of buying things that I can't measure, but odds are they are fine.  Certainly adequate for the cam you are running

Those are basically Comp Cams 1046 rockers, non-HD version which is wider than these.  I'm running those on a 244 .633" lift hyd roller cam on my 428 and so-far, so-sorta-good.  Take the adjusters out and throw them away!  Call up Smith Brothers and upgrade to their beefy adjusters and locks.

Stand kit and spacers were from Survival Motorsports and are Angelucci billet units I got on some horsetrading from Barry R.  I spent a LOT of time fussing with them to get the rocker alignment spot on...so be prepared for that and for potentially having to mill the stands or spacers to get the fitment right.  It's worth the time though, you want those rollers perfectly centered over the valve tips and not hanging halfway off in the wind.

                                  Thanks

No way to really tell on that unless you can measure them.  On my set, some of the blue anodizing has worn off and this is no problem, so I wouldn't be scared of them from an appearance standpoint.
