New Corvette and Camaero bannes by state of California
« on: January 28, 2021, 01:42:19 PM »
California has banned the sale of the new 21 Corvette and Camaro because they contain more then 5% cooper in their brake pads.
Funny unless you live there and was planning on buying a new one.

Unless Nephew Gavin decides he want a Corvette- of course he would be the only one who gets one, because that's DIFFERENT

I guess not all the nuts in California aren`t in the Granola. Looks a few made it to Sacramento. Maybe they should ban forest fires in the Golden State. Pretty sure those are doing more damage than brake pads with 5% Copper content.

Who has time to decide what corvette brake pads are made of, and determine whether they should be allowed in the state. I wonder if you own a vette in Oregon if you’re stopped at the border when heading south.  Have they checked the rest of the cars coming into their healthy brake dust only environment?  If your brake pads are 4% copper, and 96% something worse, are they ok?

So GM will produce a "California Special"? With only 4% copper brake pads?  ;D
Makes about as much sense as everything else in the state.

The rest of the country will be able to purchase 1/2 price corvette non-cali compliant brand new take-off brake pads. So we got that going for us.

Nope. The commissioner of brake pad inspection board ( 138 board members plus staff) is a friend and a FE'r.  He don't like chebbies. We should all donate to his reelection committee  !!!

Not a car...but I have been stopped on I5 going into Cali and turned around by the State because my truck wasn't emissions compliant and was "too old" according to California. But, what do you expect from a place who's state flag is the mighty bear bowing to the Red Star?

I've often thought of jumping into a car and driving to the San Andreas Fault with my biggest, best-est prybar.... Now THAT would help protect our environment--more copper, less B.S.

So, it looks like Washington may be on board with banning these awful brake pads also. I was really looking forward to braking the heart of a Vette owner, I mean at least in a straight line, up to say 130.
