FElony, I got into it with Peterson a couple of times on the Fe forum. He was very arogant as you said and told me I did`nt have a clue about 427s. His dual oiling Cougar 427 was the best block for performance. There was an episode about the side oilers never being installed in Chris crafts and he said I was sadly mistaken, even when confronted with the proof, he told me I didn`t know beans about the 427s. I asked him how many 427s he had seen in his life and he clamed up. Having owned 6 my self and Knowing a couple of guys who had at least 14 between them, I told him he was a rookie at best. I never claimed to know it all and I still learn some thing new about 427s as time goes by.

Yeah, Ford is consistently inconsistent, so you can never say never. I think the oddball stuff is the most fun to figure out, as with the L casting. Poor Royce lives in black and white.

I remember talking with the Shoe, I even got a set of the 427 blue prints he copied from John V. Mine are still in the shipping tube and I hope to get them framed some day! When Tapa talk took over the FE Forum I lost my password and identity, too bad they lost a lot of the original guys and a lot of info from 20 some yrs.

Remember me telling everyone, after checking around, that Tapatalk is yet another info farm run by the Chinese? "Oh no way, FElony. You're paranoid!" Yeah right. See all the shenanigans and glitches in that place afterwards? Insane. I'm not as dumb as I look.

Ran into Dave Shoe last Fall.Where there's Rockabilly/Surf venues in town,he'll be there.
Dave may be the kind to "view film" while the rest of us watch movies,I've always enjoyed
        talking with him.

Well, that's cool news. He had a chip on his shoulder about my unconventional "style", but I'm glad to hear he's still around.

I swap emails with Shoe occasionally.  Everytime I learn something unexpected.

He mention any particular reason he's not in the forums anymore? Did he get claimed by Facebook?

If you are asking where my L head is, it's in a storage room that's in triple digit degrees.

Shoe has had some health issues and had to let all of his FE stuff go. I don't know any details.

Here's a longer list of Ford head castings. Scroll down and see our buddy the L and others for 1966. Be aware the SB heads are mixed in. Comments? Awful lot of castings. I wonder if there are part numbers or engineering numbers mixed in. Who owns any of the 1966 heads besides R and U heads? NHRA lists the A head; I've never seen one.

Interesting. High early exhaust ports and smaller later intake ports. I read that the lower exhaust was due to the shock tower era cars but this head shows that it worked well enough to go into production. If you take an early and late stock exhaust log, mate them port to port with one upside down you'll see the ports are mirror images of one another. Did the shock tower L head have a specific exhaust manifold different from the other low exit ports?
