The two hole shafts, you have to look where the most force is applied and that is where the oil holes need to be.  Like Brent said, down and towards the intake manifold.  If you look at it from the end of the head with the rockers installed, it's the area where the pushrod is at.
My first 428, 30 yrs ago, had a squeaky rocker assembly.  Seems somewhere along the lines, the PO put the shaft in backwards and upside down.
