I have a Z code 66 LTD that is getting tired. So I am working on gathering goodies to build the new engine, and freshen up the car from a mechanical standpoint generally. Car is already C6 with 2.80 gears. I like stuff that is mostly factory, and i like to have geeky speed parts. I am always disapointed when someone opens the hood and it looks like the whole summit catalouge is under there.

So long story short I want to build either a PI configured engine with the shorty headers of a CJ with the CJ maifolds. With taxi breaks dog dish poverty caps, and blackwall firestones.

I have a CJ intake. So I have that for trade if someone has some of that other stuff and needs one of those.

Does anyone know if the police radiators were different? Kinda dont want to put a aluminum one in there if i dont have to.

There is a 1966 Ford Police Car & Emergency Vehicle brochure. By the way, although the 428 Police Interceptor was the top dog, you could get other engines in full size Ford Police cars, all the way down to a 6 cylinder. For the 428 Interceptor the brochure lists the Extra Cooling System as standard. Looking in the Ford Parts Book it shows the 428 Police Car radiator as part # C6AZ-8005-S. Unfortunately it does not list the dimensions of that specific radiator. It does not show that radiator being used in any other 1966 Ford application either. The 1967 full size 428 Police Car got it’s own C7AZ part. That one shows dimensions, and is considerably thicker than any other ‘67 radiator, but also used in ‘67 Police Car 390 applications. I’m just guessing, but that’s probably the difference in the ‘66 Police 428 radiator also. Here’s an excerpt from the brochure for the 428:

Here’s a link to a good website for car brochures, and the 1966 Ford Police vehicles in particular:

If you look at the 1966 Ford Police vehicles brochure you’ll see Ford was pushing their new for ‘66 on the full size Ford disc brakes ( introduced on the ‘65 T-Bird ) as an option. These were the large Kelsey-Hayes 4 piston calipers. I looked in the Ford Parts Book and I didn’t see any Police specific pads, just the normal parts. Starting in the ‘68 model year, when Ford switched the disc brake caliper style, the parts book starts listing a Police specific pad.
