Respirator Recommendations
« on: October 18, 2018, 12:38:46 AM »
I bought some lethal Monsanto weed killer from Hell through a friend with a license for that kind of stuff. He used it with a particle mask for a few years; in and out of hospital, probably will die soon. I have certain vegetation from the Planet Xenon to kill. Two 5 gal containers. No Skull and Crossbones on these, just pictures of dead consumers with dried out corpses screen printed right onto the buckets. Dried out husks wearing particle masks.

Best respirators? If I live through this, then will be painting cars, about 35 of them. What say youse guys?

Maybe military surplus gas masks?  They're cheap and readily available, they have replaceable filter canisters and being full facial coverage, they'll help protect your skin.  A lot of that stuff is really nasty, and can be absorbed through contact with the skin, not just by inhaling it.  Besides, with Halloween coming up, it can do double duty and you can scare all the little kids trick-or-treating in the neighborhood  ;D

I'd suggest a new full-face respirator.  They come in different sizes and you need to make sure you get one that fits your face with no leaks.

The cartridge needs to be correct for what you're trying to avoid breathing.

I agree with the skin comment--I'd get a disposable Tyvek suit with appropriate gloves and the respirator if you're really worried about the stuff (it's a bit concerning you don't mention the MSDS--is this just Glyphosphate (Roundup) at commercial concentrations or something else?--check the MSDS!).  The upside is that your neighbors will be convinced you're cooking meth or creating Love Canal 2 in your back yard.;-)

I use generic Glyphosate  (Round up at commercial concentration) and mix in a pump sprayer.  I don't use any mask, don't spray that much and never spray in a wind.  For a good mask, at a minimum look for something like
