My 427 block had o-rings. I was told I could fill the grooves with copper o-rings and mill flat. My machinist doesn't want to try it and I don't want to use copper head gaskets since this is a street motor and I don't want to chance leaky head gaskets.
Does anyone know of a perfectly round head gasket bore where the the fire ring is between 4.300-4.465?...Cometic says there fire ring dimension can't be changed and it won't work anyway..Edelbrock tech says there's is 4.400 and perfectly round but he didn't  have one to measure to make sure..does anyone have an Edelbrock gasket to measure for me?..thanks

The Fel-Pro 1020 is advertised at 4.400 bore. It's been a while since I've messed with one but I think it has a round fire ring. It works better on a FoMoCo block than a Genesis. I do remember that much.

I'm surprised Cometic can't fix you up. Blair spec'd out the last pair I bought. They had round Fire rings and a 4.300 bore.

Barry R was kind enough to steer me in the right direction. I installed copper wire in the grooves and carefully filed em smoothe myself...I think it will work fine.  Thanks Barry
