Galaxie Super Comp Headers
« on: May 14, 2018, 12:36:06 PM »
I got a set of Super Comp headers a few years back from some local guy on Craigslist that claimed he couldn't get them to fit his 63 Galaxie. I've been kicking back and forth whether I should use these or if I should run the long 427 exhaust manifolds.

Now that I've been looking into it, I realize what the guys problem was. Two tubes on the passenger side go outside of the frame rail, one on the drivers side does as well. I believe it would require cutting to the inner fender?

Does anybody have pretty clear pictures of how these looked when installed? I can find some, but the pictures are never looking at the frame situation. Anyone have first hand opinions of how these work?

I have a set on my '64, you will need to "trim" the inner fender panels to fit.  Other concerns, # 8 passed very close to the factory brake and fuel line routing (too close, so I re-routed), and on the passenger side the only close issue was the idler arm but it is OK as is.  Another thing you'll need to look at is wheel offset and tire size.  If I go hard over to lock I can put the tires into contact with the tubes.  I haven't looked at replacing mine yet, cruising it a couple of times a week just hasn't forced me to at this point.

Sorry no pictures. I had them on my 64 Galaxie, had to cut the inner fender and the tire rubbed on number 4 in a tight turn. Had to repair the number 4 cylinder pipe a couple of times.

Thanks Lenz for the pictures! Thank you both for the feedback. I think that may be a bit more than I care to do with the car. On a more performance oriented build I'd probably do it.

With that said.....anyone need a set of Galaxie Super Comps? Ceramic coated and never been used!  ;D

Put 'em in the classifieds, you can't get them new anymore (at least I don't think so  ???), so they've got value to the right buyer-  Last I saw them listed it was '65 and up.
