Set for August 23-26 at Norwalk. Sounds like a neat event, and it's close to me, but jeez, $200 just to participate in racing? No way to get around the "VIP" registration, which includes a $60 dinner with a bunch of big-wigs. I'd just like to go and lose a couple rounds of racing, eat my own meals and enjoy the scenery. Seems like a money grab on the part of NMCA. And being only 2 weeks prior to Drag Week, spending a few hundred dollars doesn't exactly appeal to me.

I thought it was only "CJ" factory stuff?   Or is there an open class?   Norwalk doesn't have a Fun Ford even this year....maybe they are using this in its place?

I won't spend $200 to get in.  Sorry, I'm like you.  Bring my own food, enjoy some friends and maybe one $1 ice cream.

My '69 F100 has real CJ heads on it, is that good enough?

I suppose I could fake it and say the Torino is a Cobra Jet.

But its not - - and I won't - - and $200 seems pretty strong...

According to the website flyer.... "hundreds of Cobra Jets, including Mustangs, Shelbys, Fairlanes, Cougars, Torinos, Cyclones/Montegos, and Rancheros (all tributes/clones permitted)", so I'm not sure if it would include cars that never originally came with a CJ engine, but any car that COULD have came with a CJ engine would be permitted.

My car is an original CJ car, so even though it's got a 427 in it, nobody would know the difference unless they spotted the sideoiler galley on the block...or the 427 badges on the scoop might give it away ::)  Either way, I'm not to interested in going with the $200 price tag. Pretty disappointed though because I think it could have been a pretty neat event.

My buddy Danny is one of the guys putting this together and I am quite sure he won't be calling out cars because of the wrong FE or VIN, but let me ask what theirs plans are for racing.

FYI, his only finished car is a concours 68 390 GT FB, his own 68.5 CJ coupe is still in work

Ross, how good of a friend is he? Any chance you can get a 'special rate'?  ;)
Just kidding. I'm thinking about going as just a spectator because even entering the car show is $150 ???

I didn't realize how it was priced, I need to ask him about it, I am not even sure which pricing I would choose there are so many variations

https://www.powermallstore.com/collections/2018-cobra-jet-reunion

My hunch is that it is modeled after the Shelby shows, where they have lots of activities going on, lots of prizes, etc, but I am not really sure.

I will give him a call tonight and get the scoop on all the different options

Gee, do you think if I changed the valve covers on my 56 427 F100 to CJ Snake covers I could get away with it? $200 is a little rich for a show.
