Booked my flight to Beaver Springs, ...Hotels?
« on: March 24, 2018, 04:06:08 AM »
Well, I`m coming! I booked my flight and car rental (requested a Ford, hope I get one!). Now I`m looking at hotel/motel rooms. Seems like my closest choices are either Lewistown or Selinsgrove, how close are either to the track, any other towns to consider? Any recommendations or warnings? I am flying to Philidelphia on Tues April 24th, any suggestions of cool car related stuff between there and Lewistown or Selinsgrove? I have not booked a room yet, so I am free to do touristy stuff for a day or 2 on the way to the FE Re-union. Thanks, really looking foreward to this!

Rory, The Beaver is half way between Lewistown and Seligrove on 522, then north on 235. Look up the FE Race and Reunion for complete details. As far as something to do Spring Carlisle is the same week which starts on Wednesday. Looking forward to meeting you.

I've stayed at the Comfort Inn in Selinsgrove every year since it started.
They offer a small discount (10%??) if you mention the BSD event.
Pretty easy half hour drive to the track, plenty of places near the hotel to eat.
Small, free breakfast at the hotel.
Bill

Edit: Most of the Saturday nights that I've been there I can hear some dirt track action nearby, not sure what exactly they're running but I remember some of the folks have
been to the dirt races on Saturday.

Another shout out for the Comfort Inn in Selinsgrove. It's not a long drive to the track, and that's where some of the cool cars will be so you'll be in good company. I've stayed there 3 times and have reservations again this year. Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT stay at the Econo Lodge Inn down the road!! Take my word on that!!

Done & done! after an accidental issue with a booking service that somehow messed up my desired dates, and the hotels website kept bouncing my requested dates, I finally got thru. I am now booked for the Comfort Inn in Selinsgrove for 3 nights. I still have to determine where to go and stay for the remainder of my Pa. adventure. I guess I will be be putting X`s on the calander, counting down the days like a prisioner!

I just did too, same flight as Rory. Can hardly wait. I was lame the last few years and never made it.

The last time I went east to a Ford race (Columbus 1986) I came home with two sets of TunnelPort heads and that was a bit of an adventure as an attempted carry-on bag.
I would imagine nowadays with the security people they have you wouldn't be able to crack any Witch Doctor jokes when they ask what is inside the Adidas bag that weighs over 150lbs and shows as a solid blob on Xray... and i'd never survive running a mile back to the check-in counter carrying such a bag any more.

Hope the weather holds out for the event.  Had a great time of it in '14 and '15, haven't been able to get back since but the stars are aligned for '19 (mainly 'cause I intend to retire :D )  My last time there was at the same comfort inn, gonna be as good a time in the parking lot as it will be at the track I'm sure.  Safe and good times to all who make it there-
