Steeda or Pro shifter ?
« on: October 18, 2017, 05:45:11 PM »
I just ordered a new Tremec TKO 600 for my 427 Cobra rep.  My last TKO just had the stock Tremec shifter and never had any problems, even when shifting fast into 3rd gear, but I'd be interested with a different performance one.
Hurst looks nice for quality, but expensive and one I've never heard of,, MGW.

I won't be racing my car anymore,  just some track days, but most with street racin and frickin fun.
So, what's your thoughts ?

I had to get one inch left and 1 inch back to keep the console so I am stuck with this shifter.

The MG shifters are really nice products. While the name doesn't get the coverage as some of the big ones, they have a stellar reputation as being quality shifters with a great feel. I don't think you'll find anybody that says they didn't like theirs. They also have an adjustable throw that you can tailor to what you like. I put one in my '09 GT and love it.

I like the Steeda Tri-Ax, although I have been too cheap to actually put on on my own LOL  We did put one on a TKO-500 and it was very nice as it defined 3rd gear much better than the stocker.

Sorry I haven't been here for a while, just busy & sick.

I've never had issues with any transmission shifting from 2nd to 3rd, missing gears or grinding, but it sounds like with at least, the Pro5, that the adjustment they have it's almost imoossible to miss a gear. And, if you use just your open palm, and not ball grabbing, you push straight up and it will go into 3rd.  If that's true, that alone would be worth it.

I'll have to check if the top 5 shifters also have that provision built in ?

I've broke 4 Tremecs shifting to 3rd. The only thing I have found to make 3rd shift well is to face plate it.
