. I agree, the thicker cyl will add strenth as long as you don't bore it. That's why im trying to keep my block standard bore. What I was referring to things like extra webbing, cross bolts, ribbs or high nickel content.
I saw a C6ME 428 block the other day that had the extra webbing in the mains and was a true 428 block (had 428 in the bottom of the water jacket). Interesting that it would have the same engineering number but be a different casting all together.

Not really, common in the FE's, especially by the mid sixties. In the rear view mirror of history it would have been nice if Ford had given all these blocks a unique casting number, but they didn't.
